Boom Sonic, our flagship youth performance band, is the closest thing students can get to a taste of life in a professional band. As a member of Boom Sonic, students will:

• Build and maintain an ever-evolving repertoire, expanding material over time the way a touring act would, rather than starting fresh each term
• Write, compose, and arrange original songs together
• Sharpen the skills that turn a group of musicians into an actual band:
  • Stage presence
  • Ensemble live performance skills
  • Audience engagement
  • Technical setup and teardown of instruments and gear for gigs
• Hone skills on their instrument(s) of choice, both to perfect individual parts and to support the growth of the ensemble as a whole
• Establish healthy rehearsal habits and personal discipline to support increased expectations

Boom Sonic membership is a school-year-long commitment, renewed each Fall semester. This is not a stepping stone, but a professional commitment for unprecedented performance opportunities, including festivals, opening slots, and regional community events like:

• La Plata County Family Center Harvest Party, Saturday, September 12, 5:00-6:30pm
• Frank n’ Stein, Saturday, October 17, 12:00-6:00pm
• Winter Wonder Bands, Saturday, December 12, 12:00-6:00pm
• Battle of the Bands, Friday, April 9, 4:00-8:00pm
• Party in the Park, Saturday, May 15, 12:00-6:00pm

*New member space is limited, and typically occurs only when a current member moves on. Returning students get first right of registration each year. When openings do occur, interested students go through an evaluation process and are invited to join based on instructor assessment.
