Cathy is a flutist and instructor with musical training and a commitment to performance and mentoring younger flute players. She has a musical background, having studied under principal flutists from the Denver and National Symphony Orchestras. After a partial hiatus for a veterinary career and child rearing, she has re-dedicated herself to music and flute playing with the expert assistance of Kathryn Shaffer. She has combined advanced technical expertise—currently serving as Principal Flutist for the Southwest Civic Winds—with a nurturing approach to teaching. Cathy is passionate about guiding beginner and intermediate students to achieve technical mastery, build performance confidence, and to successfully prepare for special events and competitive auditions. Cathy’s emphasis is on building a life-long love of music.
