Payton McIntyre is a music educator, violist and singer from Austin, Texas who resides in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. She earned a BM in Music Education with an emphasis in string instruments and a minor in jazz voice from Texas State University, Summa Cum Laude, and was inducted into the Circle of Achievement, an honor which recognized the top 16 students in the college. She also completed the certifications for Suzuki books 1-4 for violin and Cello book 1. While in Texas, she was an independent private lesson teacher and a Middle school and Elementary School Orchestra Director in the Austin Independent School District. I was nominated for AISD’s “Teacher of Promise” in 2022 just before I made the San Juan Mountains my home. Since moving to Pagosa, I have created the music studio, Pagosa Strings, which caters to 30+ students of various ages, skills, and instruments. She also serves as the co-director for the annual summer Pagosa Springs Orchestra Camp. I

Payton is thrilled to now have the opportunity to provide an after-school Orchestra program for all students at the Pagosa Peak Open School. Payton is excited to provide ongoing opportunities for the community of Pagosa Springs to be able to experience the excitement of learning and performing in an orchestra.
