Makiah graduated from Fort Lewis College in 2022 with a double major in Business Administration and General Music with a focus in Piano. She is currently working towards her Master’s in Music Education from Longy School of Music. While Makiah has given private piano lessons for a few years, she also gained some classroom experience working as a Choir Director and a Music Teacher for the Vanguard Upper Elementary School in Colorado Springs. While being a school teacher was fun, she missed the mountains of Durango and made her way back to our town. She loves to read, golf, and play tennis in her spare time. On her days off of work you can find her in the mountains running, mountain biking, or riding up Old Shalona.

Makiah is supporting Stillwater in her new role as Program Coordinator.
