After 10 years as the Executive Director of Stillwater Music, Jeroen van Tyn transitioned into the role of Music Director in mid 2024. Throughout his tenure as Executive Director, Jeroen oversaw Stillwater’s evolution from a small music school in a converted car wash to a major arts organization in our community. He drove the move into our current facility, successfully incorporated Katzin Music’s private lesson program and physical space, shepherded the organization through the Covid pandemic, and led the buildout of our performance venue, The Light Box. As Music Director, Jeroen focuses on enhancing Stillwater’s musical programs, fostering faculty development, and enriching the overall artistic direction of our school.
Included in Jeroen’s portfolio is teaching many youth and adult classes. Jeroen is also a working musician and has performed professionally in a range of musical styles including jazz, funk, folk, classical, Latin jazz, Andean folkloric and traditional Afro-Cuban. He studied music at Berklee College of Music, Cornish College of the Arts and Naropa University.
Prior to joining Stillwater, Jeroen was a business technology consultant for a number of Fortune 500 companies. He and his wife, dancer and choreographer Anne Bartlett, are directors and founding members of 20Moons, a Durango-based dance theater company. Jeroen is also a violinist with the San Juan Symphony.
