Sound of Paint: Opening Reception

Sound of Paint: Where Paintings Sing and Music Listens, created and curated by Tad Smith, will be on view
throughout June and July 2026 at The Light Box at Stillwater Music. An opening reception will be held on
Friday, June 5, 2026, from 6–8 PM, featuring live music from Stillwater’s own Seven Sharp 11.
The exhibition features augmented reality paintings paired with original musical compositions created by
musicians from Stillwater Music. By scanning QR codes beside each piece, visitors unlock animated digital
experiences where paintings come to life and custom music inspired by the artwork begins to play.
“Sound of Paint isn’t your typical art show — it’s a playlist of paintings,” says Smith. “The goal is to create a
conversation between what we see and what we hear.”
The exhibition explores how art can move beyond static presentation, inviting audiences to engage with
creativity through both sight and sound. Through augmented reality technology, Sound of Paint encourages
deeper interaction and personal interpretation while celebrating the evolving relationship between music
and visual storytelling.
Visitors are invited to experience a world where paintings sing, music listens, and art becomes fully alive.
