Andreas Tischhauser has been involved in music his entire life and enjoyed a very 19th Century upbringing with weekends and holidays spent with the family around the piano. He still holds the Kansas state record for number of state music championships in a single year, as well as total, through his high school career. In College he won the National Association of Teachers of Singing at every classification.
During his graduate studies Robert Shaw, the most renowned choral director of the 20th Century, tapped Andreas as one of his vocal soloists. Andreas enjoys appearances on stage with many great composers, musicians, and ensembles including Phillip Glass, Sir Colin Davis, Barry Manilow, John Corigliano, The Santa Fe Opera and, most recently, two-time Grammy award-winning ensemble, Chanticleer.
As a flutist, Andreas was invited to join his area high school orchestra at the age of 12 and received the same invitation from the Wichita State University Festival Orchestra at 15. Andreas has been privileged to work with some of the greatest flutists of our time including James Gallway, Ransom Wilson, Julius Baker, and Jean Pierre Rampal.
Prior to returning to Durango in 2016, he collaborated with Deke Sharon, producer, arranger, and music director for “The Sing Off” and all three “Pitch Perfect” movies, to create New Mexico’s first pop a cappella group, Voasis. While very comfortable on the stage, Andreas is a very successful music instructor with students at almost every top-20 performing arts college and conservatory in the country.
